Burning Rome, the spiritual predecessor to Burning Suns, revolves around leading your ancient empire to victory over its neighbors. The game involves: Commanding armies around the ancient worlds on a tactical level. Fighting on various battlefields. Constructing armies, siege weapons, cities and more. Sending emissaries, agents and conduct diplomacy with your leaders. Burning Rome has lots of variations in units from the different factions, and the board is somewhat modular based on the empires included in the struggle.
