This was effectively a long-wheelbase version of the 404 (the saloon had four doors). It went on to score significantly more commercial success and was the first car produced by Bristol to have an opening bootlid. Unlike the 404, which, through its extensive use of wood in its construction, has a low survival rate, the 405’s done much better over the years, as what wood had been used in the body was above the waistline. A pretty four-door GT that was crying out for more power. Add £20,000 for the rare convertible version.
