BMW 503 Coupe
Based on the impressive 501, BMW’s 503 Coupé sported an exciting new body style penned by Albrecht Goertz. It introduced a new era of modernism for BMW, but at a hefty price that few could afford. It drove as well as it looked, too, with a top speed of nearly 120mph. The 503 Coupé was designed primarily for the American market, but sadly, it was far too expensive to take off, and a mere 412 were built. The outcome was disastrous for BMW, which teetered on the edge of bankruptcy by the end of the 1950s.
