The SC is said to offer the best of both worlds – rugged and capable GM engineering (this time the Opel Senator’s platform) combined with a glamorous Italianate styling. Initially, the bodies were built by OCRA, but production was switched to ILCA after just 79 SCs were completed. Rust was the enemy here with these cars. Power didn’t initially match the looks, but an upgraded 3.9-litre engine righted the situation. Sadly, sales weren’t great, and by the late-1980s the SC’s failure almost bankrupted Erich Bitter. Values now rising sharply for the underrated German tourer.
