Alpine A310 V6
Alpine was rapidly moving upmarket and the scale of its ambition was reflected in the A310 V6. Introduced in 1976, it slotted in the range above the four cylinder car, which was discontinued shortly afterwards. Powered by the 2664cc Douvrin V6, co-developed by Renault and Peugeot, the latest Alpine developed 150bhp in the rortiest fashion possible. However, despite the excellent soundtrack, and the company’s assertion that it was a credible Porsche 911 alternative, the car wasn’t fast enough, nor did it have the right badge.
