2015 Jaguar F-type R Roadster
A 2015 Jaguar F-type R roadster undergoing testing in Germany. Although the test team has made a gallant effort, no amount of squiggly-patterned vinyl wrap can hide the large front air splitter that appears to be even bigger than that of the hottest cat in the current F-type lineup, the R coupe. The same goes for the large lip affixed to the deployable rear wing—which appears to be fixed in the “up” position here—that extends all the way to the fenders. Could Jaguar have affixed the outsized aero just to play with us? Absolutely. But look closer, and you’ll see that this cat is wearing carbon-ceramic brake rotors, which currently are only available on F-type V-6 S and R coupes. Even more convincing, our sources have been telling us for months that the R roadster is a done deal. And considering that just a few weeks ago we learned that Jag was already thinking about a lighter, more powerful version of the F-type coupe to top the tin-topped lineup, bringing convertible power and performance in line makes sense.
